November 1, 2020 Chowder and Popovers, please! Sunday 2:00 to 4:30
The meal that Mainers ask for and savor. Enjoy a demonstration of the iconic Maine chowder and popovers. Popovers are a special bread that has been served for generations in Bar Harbor and are easy to make if you know the secrets. The type of chowder is dependent on the catch of the day and usually fish. The secrets of the base will give you many options of the types of chowder to make at home. You may volunteer to assist the chef in front of the class or just enjoy watching. At the end of the class you will have a taste of chowder , a hot popover and be given written recipes for chowder and popovers to be used at home to enjoy with your friends and family. Class lasts 2 ½ hours 50.00

Learn about historic and new desserts using seasonal foods when possible. Afraid of pie crusts? Not anymore. You will learn to make a Blueberry Crumble pie from scratch with little effort, a historic Maine cookie, a sorbet and a simple cooling dessert with a historic past. All in an hour and a half and you get to taste everything! Come ready to learn and eat. 50.00

Pandemic Holiday Cooking Classes at Ambrosia Cooking School, Bar Harbor
Celebrate the holidays this year differently with festive small meals for one or two people. Brighten the season and spend enjoyable time having the foods you love and maybe a new favorite you learned in the classes. There are three classes where we will create fun meals around Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year.
1. Thanksgiving Class Saturday November 21 2:00 to 4:30 pm
2. Christmas Class Saturday December 12th 2:00 to 4:30 pm
3. New Year Class Sunday December 27th 2:00 to 4:30 pm
Family tradition, individual favorites and food restrictions will be considered in the final development of the classes.
Each class is 70.00 or sign up for all three and they would be 60.00 each. Very small classes must be reserved in advance. Email or call for more details.

Sharon Joyce, a Cordon Bleu trained chef and author will explain the history and seasonal foods of Maine. You will learn food facts, techniques, history, and traditional recipes while tasting such favorites as lobster, seafood, Maine wild blueberries, etc. You will be able to impress others with your new knowledge of everything Lobster. Opportunities to assist the chef will be available. During the class you will have a taste of everything made and be given written recipes to be used at home to enjoy with your friends and family. Class lasts 3 hours 75.00

Immerse yourself in the Maine foods that are any foodie’s dream. This is a hands on class where you will make and serve appetizers using local ingredients when possible, seafood, wild blueberries and more. Repeat these small bite size morsels as a snack or small meal for yourself at home or when a friend drops by. It isn’t exactly tapas so we are calling it Mapas. Opportunities to assist the chef, taste appetizers , and leave with a written recipes. 1 ½ hrs. 50.00
